Darkstream Rules

Dark Manners:

People are here to watch and listen to Vox. People also enjoy interacting with other subscribers. Anyone detracting from these things has to go. Here are some of the most common reasons for this

  • Membership on Unauthorized and/or YouTube exempts you from nothing. These rules ALL apply to everyone in the chat room and/or commenting on any video.
  • Fear and despair spread like cancer, and are not allowed. Attempting to rob others of their hope in the future, and lower morale gets you bounced.
  • Gamma behavior will not be tolerated. It's mostly lying, subverting, trying to divide/cause drama, and being generally awful. (See the Voxiversity on the Socio-Sexual Hierarchy for more information.) Unlike dark matter, gamma behavior can be detected and will get you banned.
  • Asking the same question multiple times is not tolerated. Vox probably read what you typed, and chose not to answer.
  • Do not spread unverified rumors. Bring video, pics and/or screenshots or shut up.
  • Expect no answers about: family/personal details, ongoing legal matters, other YouTubers, flat earth, and any other topic Vox chooses.
  • Questions and comments need to be respectful, cite actual information/add to the discussion. People with a total lack of social skills are usually not capable of this, and will be banned.
  • Vox has no control over what Owen Benjamin says or does.
  • Every day isn't Stupid Question Day.

The End

Dark Manners Notes:
  • The parchment paper:
    • Is to make the rules look like a proclamation. Actual scroll pic looked too biblical.
    • The words were also saved in a separate document.
  • We didn't think we needed them for our forum, and resisted it. Then some “fool” would always show up and prove us wrong. It happened over and over.
    • The platform being yours might make behavior even worse. (No “YouTube policy prevents this” to fall back on.)
    • Sometimes familiarity breeds contempt, and other posters can't help testing fences.
  • The plan was originally just to throw together a quick list of bannable offenses.
    • What is instanaban, what is iffy, and what is just annoying?
    • What gets a mod request vs. a verbal assault vs. a punishment?
    • Time-outs vs. stream bans vs. permanent ban options vary by platform. <--- you decide what rule merits what response, and how to word/list them
  • No clue what chat punishment options are planned for Unauthorized.tv, or even if/when streaming will occur there.
  • Many people won't read the rules or FAQs, or won't be able to follow them.
    • The enjoyment people get from bannings won't stop.
    • It gives the moderately intelligent new people capable of following any rules a fighting chance.
    • You and Owen both have ways of “ordering” people, so if any of these rules work against your methods, have a designee offer corrections.
